As a culture, we've been fed mass amounts of merchandise. Oftentimes cheaply made and without sentiment, merchandise is typically produced simply to fulfill a basic need with no emotion (certainly no passion) attached to it. Many have realized that due to mass production of goods, we're unhealthier and generally unhappier than we've ever been as a society. Thankfully, the past few years have seen a boon of small-craft businesses come about to counter this trend that we've been saturated in. The way that we've viewed food, clothing, etc. has slowly been changing--all for the better! That is art over merchandise.
As we've grown as a company over the past couple of years, we've had to spend some time defining what makes us unique as a local business and provider of goods and services in our area. We've defined our business as one which provides quality, custom slipcovers at (what we feel) is an affordable price. As with any time of growth; however, there is always an opportunity for redefinition, and that is what this, the Art Over Merchandise blog, will be about. We want to utilize this space to give voice to our thoughts on our business, our trade and, most importantly, what inspires us to keep pushing ourselves to be better. We may often use this space to detour around talk of slipcovers in order to have an outlet to talk about our experiences and interests which inspire us to help create beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces which will grace the homes and living spaces of our clients.
Hopefully this will reach you and help you to know that our business is about more than just slipcovers. We are a group of US artisans and craftspeople. We are parents and citizens working to support local families and communities with our handiwork. Mainly, we are lovers of creativity, and the joy of new discovery.
We look forward to taking this journey and hope that you will join us.
